Turning hardened steels with newly developed CBN inserts

The automotive and automotive parts industry’s demand for a cutting material with long-term stability for turning hardened steels has been met with the development of new CBN cutting materials, such as grades B610 and B600 used by LACH DIAMANT – and that with the highest surface qualities of, for example, Ra 0.1 µm.

LACH DIAMANT doubles this performance with its double-sided cutting insert: “CBN-DUO-power.”

CBN-DUO-power indexable inserts of the B610 or B600 grade are particularly recommended for finish turning:

  • for interrupted and continuous cutting, especially for tool and case-hardening steels as well as powder metallurgical alloys
  • of components such as gears, drive shafts, valves, pulleys, and even brake discs and pads, as well as over-turning of sprayed-on metal alloys, etc.
