to \u201eLACH DIAMANT made in Saxony”<\/h2>\nThis is a piece of industrial history written for the present “auto land” Saxony\n\nLACH DIAMANT, the diamond tool manufacturer from Hanau, was founded in 1922 and is considered the pioneer in the development of polycrystalline diamond tools (PCD). They received an order from VW before the reunification to supply the basic equipment for PCD processing for the VW Polo aluminium engine for the Barkas Plant in Karl Marx City. Nobody could anticipate that this was the reason leading to the founding of “LACH DIAMANT made in Saxony” .\n\nDuring the reunification time it had to be recognized that only two tool grinding ma-chines of the Type SWU existed, one in Jena and the other one in Chemnitz. Only these machines were capable to resharpen polycrystalline diamond tools (PCD).\n\nIn 1991 this was the actual start of the enterprise “LACH DIAMANT made in Saxony”.\n\nThree employees in the Chemnitz area were hired and trained for several months at the specially developed grinding machines at LACH DIAMANT’s head office in Hanau. Af-ter a successful training phase the operation was started in a rented facility in Ober-lichtenau.\n\nAt this time the young team encountered bad luck because the manufacturing of the VW Polo aluminium engine, including all PCD cutting tools was moved to China.\n\nLuckily VW-Salzgitter contributed grinding orders for PCD tools, enabling the young enterprise to develop further.\n\nIn 1997 the point was reached to assign more responsibility to the “Saxony Team”.\n\nIn the newly developed industrial area in Ottendorf\/Lichtenau a building site was ac-quired and crowned with a 900 m2 industrial building.\n\nStep by step the entire manufacturing of polycrystalline diamond tools (PCD) for the processing and machining of aluminum, plastic\/composite materials, wood and circuit board materials could be relocated to the plant in Ottendorf\/Lichtenau.\n\nWhen, finally, the plant was bursting at the seams, the management team under the leadership of Horst Lach and Dipl.-Ing. Robert Lach decided to enlarge the facility by a new building, resulting in doubling the production area.\n\n \n\nThis new building project was finished thanks to the support of the S\u00e4chsische Aufbau-bank (SAB).\n\nThe move is running at full speed.\n\nFor all who want to know more about “LACH DIAMANT made in Saxony,” visit the SIT (Trade Show for Industry and Technology) running from February 28 to March 2, 2007.
