More than 30 years after the discovery of the spark erosion by LACH-DIAMANT we have a premiere again the "mini" the great alternative to the »Dia-2100-classic« for PCD processing.
The concept of the »Dia-2200-mini« fulfills the worldwide increased and changed requirements for the service of diamond tools (PCD).
In the first place is this valid for diamond tools for the processing and machining of known wood and wood-like materials, PCB circuits board material, plastics and non-ferrous metals.
The tradition at LACH-DIAMANT started with the legendary »M-1050 automatic«, subsequently a number of special features were developed for the "mini" which facilitate an easy handling for diamond service operations.
The »Dia-2100-classic« Edition 2005 was developped as an universal automatic sharpening machine for production and service.
The »Dia-2100-classic« Edition 2005 fulfills all requirements for the sharpening of diamond tools for wood, plastics, circuit boards and laminate flooring presently on the market.
LACH DIAMANT, like no other manufacturer, can look back at more than 30 years of experience (since 1973) in the development and manu - facturing of polycrystalline diamond tools (PCD).
The »Dia-2100-classic« Edition 2005 can be easily operated without special programming knowledge, suited also for newcomers in the service / sharpening business as well as for production.
The »Dia-2100-classic« Edition 2005 has an active menu guide at the monitor based on Microsoft Windows®, supported by graphic depictions and video presentations. With this, an assured operating sequence, starting with the set-up of the machine, selection and measuring of the specific tools, sharpening process and final control is given.
In addition, the »Dia-2100-classic« Edition 2005 can be connected to the newly developped »dia-ToolNet« which allows the measured tools and their stored data to be externally recalled from the »dia-ToolNet« station.
The »Dia-2100-classic« Edition 2005 has been equipped with the further developped spark generator EDGplus. Surface qualities, depending on PCD quality, of Ra = 0.2 μ and better, are obtained with copper or the easier to handle and less expensive electrographite discs.
The »Dia-2100-classic« Edition 2005 can be equipped with either single or multiple tools and is also suited for sharpening operaton.
The »Dia-2100-classic« Edition 2005 is universally designed so that it is capable of all types of operations regardless if they involve shear angled jointers, bits or router bits, profile tools, grooving tools, scoring tools, hoggers or saws (for example see images at the top).
The »Dia-5085-CNC« has been developed on the basis of many years of practice and experience of the tool manufacturer LACH-DIAMANT. For manufacturing and service of diamond saw blades the »Dia-5085-CNC« offers a number of avantages; the same goes for resharpening of diamond hoggers and diamond scorings saws.
Even the best saw tool body has a side tolerance. The »Dia-5085-CNC« does not try to minimize this side tolerance through clamping systems instead it simply measures the side tolerance automatically for every tooth and takes it into consideration during the sharpening operation. Consequently you can always be sure that the tooth will always be in the centreline of the tool body and the saw blade will then perfectly work.
From Ø 80 mm to Ø 700 mm (optional Ø 800 mm) without re-setting. With the »Dia-5085-CNC« you can change from a Ø 80 mm scoring saw for PCB industry to a Ø 700 mm saw blade in only 1 minute set-up time without any problems.
Why should you clamp only one tool on the machine if you can also prepare several tools? The extensive processing areas of the »Dia-5085- CNC« enable you to clamp up to three different (different numbers of teeth, tooth shapes and diameters!) saw blades on the machine and to have them processed automatically - without buying an additional loading system. Everything you need is already integrated in the »Dia- 5085-CNC«.
You would like to manufacture saw blades with tolerances in the μ - range? So it is good that the »Dia-5085-CNC« is equipped with a separate measuring system for capturing the electrode parameters and can thus maintain constant machine parameters. The result are tools in a quality not known up to now.
The »dia-ToolNet« is a modern universal measuring and re-positioning device with an integrated tool server comprising the »dia- ToolNet« Station that can be connected so as to form a network with all the CNC-controlled LACH DIAMANT universal sharpening machines.
The measuring system is based on a highprecision telecentric camera with maintenance-free LED illumination. All the images taken by the measuring camera are evaluated by a computer in real time and displayed on the 10" TFT monitor. As easy handling was a top priority for the software developers it is possible to operate the measuring system after only a few minutes of instruction.
Classical measuring errors - such as the parallax error - which are common when using the projector-based measuring devices, have been eliminated with the »dia-ToolNet« Station. This system allows for error-free and fast gauging of measuring profile radii, angles and tolerances of dia-cutting edges (and of course also carbide, Stellite, CBN cutting edges, etc). Furthermore, the top illumination, that can be additionally activated, enables very exact determination of dia-cutting edge breakage.
The »dia-ToolNet« station, however, is more than just a classical measuring device. With a second 10" TFT monitor the normal tool editor of the »Dia-2100-mini« and the »Dia-2100- classic« is always available. The operator can thus define new tools for the LACH DIAMANT sharpening machines already on the measuring machine. For example, starting with customer or job data, through the tool geometries to the exact calibration data, thus eliminating errors in the setting up of the machine right from the start.
The chief attraction of this tool editor is its ability to communicate directly with the measuring software of the camera measuring system! All the measured cutting positions are automatically recorded in the tool editor. Manual transfer, the writing and typing in of data, which is usual for example with normal measuring devices where it represents a major source of errors, does not exist with the »dia- ToolNet« station.
The »dia-ToolNet« station is thus the optimal device for job preparation and quality check of dia-tools.
The »dia-ToolNet« station also features an integrated server, which provides tool data to all LACH DIAMANT CNC sharpening machines.
The server is a Windows®-based industrial PC with an integrated RAID harddisc. With this system no data can be lost, not even if the harddisc is damaged!
Several possibilities are available for data exchange: the Ethernet based network »dia- ToolNet«, modern USB (memory-)sticks and the classical diskettes.
The »Dia-2100-CNC« was developed as an universal sharpening machine in order to assure the sharpening of all diamond tools on the market for the wood and plastic industry.
LACH-DIAMANT, like no other manufacturer, can point out to three decades of experience, since 1973, in the development and manufacturing of polycrystalline diamond tools (PCD).
The »Dia-2100-CNC« can easily be operated without special programming knowledge. Ideal for the diamond tool newcomer, for sharpening service or for production.
LACH-DIAMANT placed special emphasis on manufacturing high precision, long service life components and machine rigidity for 24-hour operation. In addition, LACH-DIAMANT developed simple operating instructions.
The »Dia-2100-CNC« 2003 Edition is equipped with the improved spark generator »EDGplus®«. Surface qualities of Ra = 0,2 μm and better, are obtained with copper wheels or the (simpler to operate and less expensive) electrographite wheel.
With the installed 3-D measuring system the dependability of the total concept is complete. From the initial to the final inspection, the diamond tool is monitored in the machine during the sharpening process and, if desired, the report can be printed out with the supplied printer (see illustration above).
The new »Dia-2100-CNC« 2003 Edition can be equipped with either single or multiple tools and is also suited for sharpening operation.
The »Dia-2100-CNC« is universally designed so that it is capable of all types operations regardless if they involve shear angled jointers, bits or router bits, profile tools, grooving tools, scoring tools, hoggers or saws (for examples see the right notebook).
All programmes include simple operator instructions.
Multiple manufacturing in one spindle clamping (example: hoggers illustration) or saws up to Ø 600mm, scoring tools and shear angled jointing cutters - easy processing - possible with special programmes already included in the price.
Series manufacturing and service of diamond routerbits by means of handling system »ecomat« (see illustration). This is available as an option and can be installed later. ...and all of this dependable and precise - just the proven LACH-DIAMANT machine quality.
The traditional Precision-Tool-Grinding Machine in the LACHDIAMOND program forresharpening and manufacturing ofsingle edge cutting tools.
The Precision-Tool-Grinding Machine is based on theexperience of LACH DIAMONDsince 1973 in the production ofpolycrystalline turning and millingtools for the grinding of PCD andCBN materials.Rugged construction and rigidity areconsidered of great importance, especially for the grinding of PCD.
Even small- and medium series canbe coped with economically, due toease of operation without expensivepreparation. The same advantage isalso true for single-pieceproduction.
The grinding of the primary cuttingedge, tip radius and secondarycutting edge is possible in oneclamping, without reference tablesor trigonometric calculations. The inclinable grinding spindleallows the grinding of conical tipradii, assuring always a constantclearance angle. The grinding spindle can be drivenwith standard regulated speeds. Ifequipped with a frequency regulator(Optional equipment) the speed isinfinitely variable from 2.000 to6.000 RPM.
Oscillation-stroke and frequency areadjustable each in position, strokelength and frequency.
The Precision-Tool-Grinding Machine can be operated fordry- as well as for wet grinding, accessories such as dust extractionunit or coolant system are available. The control of the grinding processtakes place either with a swivelingprojector with concentric circles formeasuring the radius or with amicroscope with built-in hairlineplate (each optional). In order to obtain a high grindingefficiency, the contact pressure ofthe cutting edge acting against thegrinding wheel can be adjusted, variable from 5 to 30 kp (availableas optional equipment).
LACH DIAMOND has developedgrinding wheels with bondsespecially designed for particularapplications for the PCD and CBNgrinding. The Precision-Tool-Grinding Machine can of coursealso be utilized efficiently for thegrinding of cutting tools with HSS,carbide or ceramic cutting edges.

The measuring machine for a quick recording of tool parameters with integrated data bank server
The machine programme of LACH DIAMANT stands out due to its high flexibility, easy handling and very quick stock removal for an economical production and sharpening service of standard and special PCD tools.
Horst Lach`s discovery of spark erosion for the economical processing of polycrystalline diamonds (PCD) in 1978 represents a milestone in the history of polycrystalline cutting tools.
The electrical discharge grinding process provided for the first time the possibility of a quick, economical and high-quality grinding process of cutting edge geometry of PCD cutting tools.
In 1978, however, there were no electric discharge machine being able to fulfil the needs of a PCD tool manufacturer. At that time all wire EDM and sinking EDM machines were used for the conventional eroding of metals. The generators of these machines were not suited for the processing of PCD and caused damages to the PCD structure.
For this reason LACH DIAMANT has established its own machine construction department in order to develop an economical procedure of manufacturing polycrystalline diamond tools (especially rotating multiple-cut tools).
Today LACH DIAMANT spark erosion machines are used all over the world. LACH DIAMANT has still set itself the target to pave the way for the diamond tool to new ranges of production and countries. Therefore it is a specialty of LACH DIAMANT to help other companies worldwide to build up a sharpening service for diamond tools. This assistance goes far beyond the normal operation of a spark erosion machine for diamond tools and includes everything necessary for the service of a diamond tool (cleaning, replacement of teeth, sharpening etc.). At customer`s option LACH DIAMANT builds even a service centre ready for immediate use.
